Ms Buchwald teaches art, German language classes and mask theater.

Currently, Ms. Buchwald teaches mask - mime - theater courses at the Galaxie and a German language and art appreciation class at Murphy Hill Gallery in Chicago. In April 2010, she taught together with Olumuyiwa Ojo a Mask theater-dance course for Circo, the circus school in Hannover, Germany. She taught at the Community Covenant Church, the Phoenix Mental Health Care Center in Chicago and  at the SHARNIERTHEATER HANNOVER in Germany.

Ms. Buchwald also taught movement theater at the Victory Gardens Theater, the Chicago School for Theater and Dance, residencies for the Illinois Arts Council, and theater and language classes at the Goethe Institute and world art courses at Art Resources in Teaching and Youth Guidance.

 Marianna Buchwald stammt aus Göttingen und wuchs als eine von drei Töchtern der bekannten Künstler Hans-Ulrich und Hella Buchwald auf. Sie studierte bis 1980 Theater und Tanz an der Folkwang Hochschule in Essen. Dann zog es sie als Freiwillige des Deutschen Friedenscorps für ein Jahr nach Chicago, was ihr Leben nachhaltig beeinflusste. Am Chicago Art Institute absolvierte Marianna Buchwald das Kunststudium in Malerei, Bildhauerei und Performance, das sie 1990 als Bachelor of Fine Arts abschloss.

1992-1997 war sie Dozentin am Goethe Institut für deutsches Theater und gestaltete für das Goethe Institut und den Illinois Arts Council ein internationales Künstleraustausch Programm.

Seit 2001 entwickelte sie neben ihrer pädagogischen Tätigkeit als Künstlerin Werkzeuge für Videoproduktionen und arbeitet als Übersetzerin und Dolmetscherin sowie als Studien und Reiseleiterin.
